Latest version.
  • A.

The term of a commissioner shall be three years, beginning on the first day of April. Terms shall be staggered so that one will expire on one year and two will expire each of the following two years.

    B.

If a member of the commission leaves the city with the intent to remain absent more than ninety (90) days or fails to attend three consecutive regular meetings of the commission, unless excused by the commission, the council shall declare the office of that member vacant. A vacancy is also created by the resignation of a member presented in writing and accepted by the council or by the death of a member, or by a member's failure to qualify within thirty (30) days after his or her appointment. Members may be removed for cause by the council at any time.

    C.

In the event of a vacancy, the mayor, subject to confirmation by the council, shall appoint a member to fill the unexpired term.
