§ 2.20.080. Initiative election.

  • A.

    If the council adopts substantially the same ordinance or resolution proposed by an initiative petition prior to the election which the petition question is voted on, the petition is void and an election shall not be held on the matter.

    B.

    The ordinance or resolution initiated shall be published in full in the notice of election but may be summarized on the ballot to indicate clearly the proposal submitted.

    C.

    If a majority of those voting favor an initiated ordinance or resolution, it becomes effective upon certification of the election, unless a different effective date is provided in the ordinance or resolution.
