§ 13.08.030. Ownership of lines.

  • A.

    The city retains ownership and maintenance responsibility for the main and service lines for the piped water system.

    B.

    Service laterals from the main to the residence or commercial building will be installed by the city or a contractor approved by the city. The customer shall pay for the actual cost of construction plus a fifty dollar ($50.00) hook-up fee. The hook-up and connection fees are due and payable to the city at the time the connection is made unless the property owner has made arrangements for deferred payments.

    C.

    The city council will establish specific connection and monthly installment rates for any extensions or special construction projects.

    D.

    Notwithstanding the above, the city shall not be liable for any damage from broken or frozen water lines to any residential or commercial structure or its contents, when such damage was caused in whole, or in part, by the negligence of the owner or occupant of the structure.
